The entire outlay of Rs 48.40 crores provided for the scheme would be spent during the year and the employment generated would surpass the target of 87.50 urn man- days. According to the latest information available with the Minister, during the year so far 86.29 mn mandays of employment had been created with an expenditure of Rs 32.52 crores. 1972- 73 is the second year of the crash scheme. In 1971-72 Rs 32.71 crores were spent on the scheme and it has been claimed by the government that 81.72 mn mandays of employment were created.
