Mixed Fare

Mixed Fare Hansavivek TRIBENI TISSUES applied for an industrial licence in April 1971 for establishing a new mill in South India, in addition to the existing lines, to manufacture a number of new speciality papers for the electrical and other industries. The mill will have a strong import substitution value, since many of the proposed products are still imported. A site has been chosen in Mysore. The state government has assured availability of power and water to the company but the 'letter of intent' is still awaited. The government has announced that the benefit of development rebate will be withdrawn after May 1974; and A K Sen, chairman, fears that further delay in the grant of an industrial licence will make it 'almost impossible' to complete the project before that time. He has assured shareholders, however, that as far as practicable steps are being taken to ensure speedy implementation of the scheme once the licence is received. A great deal of preliminary work has already been carried out on the design of the plant, and quotations have been received from a number of machinery suppliers.
