(Contributed) THE Reserve Bank of India's Report on Currency and Finance is one. of the dependable reference sources on the economy. Over a period of years, its scope and content, as also size, have expanded, which perhaps speaks for the "dimensional and structural changes" the Indian economy hits undergone over this period. The Report for 1971-72, released only nine months after the one for 1970-71 which was published in January, contains some new features which students of the economy will find useful. At one time, it may be recalled, the Reserve Bank was even thinking of changing the present "descriptive and compendious character" of the Currency and Finance Report and instead using it for presenting ''a number of .separate problem-oriented studies''. The proposal was (hopped and thus year an attempt is discernible to enhance the analytical usefulness of the Report by widening the scope of some of the important; chapters, such as those on money and banking, the government budget, and foreign trade, aid and balance of payments. Also, a new chapter on national income, saving and investment has been added for the first time.
