Machine Tools- Following the Fashion

October 14, 1972 FOR Hindustan Machine Tools 1971- 72 was a fairly good year; its sales reached Rs 29 crores, from Rs 21 crores in 1970-71, and there was also a marginal improvement in profits which were Rs 1.12 crores. The various diversification programmes (tractors, heavy-duty presses, die-casting and plastic injection moulding machines, as also new types of machine tools) undertaken earlier would start paying off soon and HMT hopes to reach a turnover of Rs 40 crores in 1972-73 which is expected to rise further to Rs 60 crores in the next few years. HMT's annual exports are also targeted to reach a level of Rs 5 crores from the present Rs 1 crore.
