September 30, 1972 the Foreign Trade Ministry that the EEPC chairman sought to adopt a belligerent attitude and warn the government that engineering exporters might even go on 'strike'. He has also alleged that exporters are subject to frequent surprises as a result of shifts in export policy. This is a curious allegation, for such shifts as there have been in the government's policy in the last six years or so have been wholly pleasant surprises to engineering exporters. The other argument, that the government had not taken the EEPC into confidence while effecting policy changes is equally strange. In fact, it has been due to the powerful and successful lobbying by the EEPC that engineering exporters are today receiving a disproportionately large share of export incentives as well as governmental attention.
