Feudal Obsessions (From a Special Correspondent) MYSORE has finally become Kainataka. At last the long-standing controversy has been resolved. The 'Mysore' versus 'Karnataka' dispute antedates the formation of the state in 195fi. To the erstwhile Bombay and Hyderabad Kanna- digas the name 'Mysore' had feudal connotations. To some extent it was an 'old Mysore' versus 'new Mysore' dispute. The renaming, however, has been welcomed by leading writers, Kannada academics, and publicists from old Mysore as well.
