So far, the state government used to provide freeships to students whose parents' annual income did not exceed Rs 900, Now government has decided to extend the freeships to all those whose parents' income is less than Rs 2,400 per yean It is estimated that as a result of this new limit, some 40,000 should get free college education. Both these measures in education will, of course, put a significant burden on the state's finances.
