Together with India's advocacy of an Asian peace plan which would include Soviet Union, claimed to he an Asian country, one of the .super powers would enter the Asian peace system. All this plus India's' high-profile defence posture would indeed arouse apprehensions among the neighbours. India was quick to respond to Ceylon's request for military aid and after that a Military Adviser has been permanently posted in the Ceylon High Commission in New Delhi, Nevertheless, Ceylon has felt it necessary to reappraise its stand on NAGALAND's claims to certain border forest reserves of Assam arc currently being looked into by a senior Union Home Ministry official. The official is due to submit his recommendations this month. Till then, the status quo along the border is likely to be maintained. Presently, the official is engaged in studying the memoranda submitted by the governments of Assam and Naga- land. Both sides are awaiting his recommendations, probably hoping for the best.
