Expansion and Design Changes

Expansion and Design Changes Hansavivek SUESSEN TEXTILE BEARINGS is stepping up dividend by 4 points to 12 per cent following fair improvement in production, sales and earnings. Production and turnover during the current year are expected to be still higher owing to the "very satisfactory" supply position of raw materials and components. Demand for some of the products like spindle inserts and top rollers continues to be strong and shortage of these products in the market is expected to last till the end of 1972, when the capacity of the company's plant would be stepped up by installation of additional machine-tools. Large-scale imports of these products were permitted by government in the last 18 months or so, but the directors hope that imports will not be necessary for a long time. Within a couple of years, all the raw materials and components are expected to be available indigenously. STB has been itself making efforts at import substitution. Last year, it commenced manufacture of latest design of top arm and expects to begin production of top weighting arms for speed frames and worsted frames during the second half of 1972. A change-over to new designs is also envisaged in the case of all, other products to enhance their competitive capacity.
