ALL the oilseeds producing areas have had very satisfactory rains by now; the deficits in the northern States have been wiped out. Almost everywhere the condition of the standing groundnut crop is reported as good to excellent. If the last rains in September are also satisfactory, the country could look forward to a record crop. Of course, in the absence of any technological breakthrough, the increase in production over the previous best harvest in 1964-65 can only be marginal.
