of France also sunk its wells. In 1966 Nigeria's oil production was 20 million tons; by 1969, despite the ravages of war, it had shot up to 52 million tons. Within the next few years Nigerian oil production may rival that of Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Iraq each of which now produces about 100 million tons annually.
