Labour Ministers against Labour GOVERNMENT will, no doubt, draw much comfort from its success in getting the Asian Labour Ministers' Conference held in New Delhi last week, to endorse in substance its industrial relations policy which has provoked so much criticism at home. But the Labour Minister hardly brought credit to the country by calling in question the norms about trade union rights evolved by the International Labour Organisation over the years. Developing nations constitute a large majority in I LO and India has had ample opportunity to influence ILO's policies and programmes by winning the developing countries to its own viewpoint at the annual International Labour Conferences.
