Face-lift for DMK THE DMK in Tamil Nadu is trying to give its public image a face-lift. The rift at the top of the party between Karunanidhi and Nedunchezhian, which came into the open in the battle for succession after Annadurai's death, has been seemingly patched up. The threatened contest between the two for the general secretaryship of the party was avoided by Tesurrecting the post of the party president and giving it to Karunanidhi while Nedunchezhian was unanimously elected general secretary. On the face of it the compromise has clicked and Nedunchezhian has joined Karunanidhrs cabinet which he had earlier refused to do as being not in keeping with his senior status in the party.
