Heading for an Eventful July

CPI chairman Dange straining himself, according to Ziaul Hasan of Patriot reporting from Moscow, to iron out differences at the world communist conference and to reassure his anxious audience that the prospects of "unity of all democratic forces" in India were indeed "bright". Other newspapers, understandably, saw the proceedings in Moscow somewhat differently. There could be, however, no such differences about the impact that India was making at the World Assembly for Peace in East Berlin. In this instance the statistics were conclusive. According to a Patriot report, India's 75-member delegation was the largest present at the Assembly. And they talk of P Form difficulties and travel curbs! Nearer home we were doing somewhat less well. In an interview with Hindu's special correspondent, the Nepalese Prime Minister, Kirti Nidhi Bista, did some plain speaking. Some excerpts:
