March 8, 1969 The Centre, reports on the subject in all papers seemed to agree, will soon move Dharma Vira out of West Bengal, though not in time for the opening of the first session of the new Assembly on the 6th as demanded by the State Government, None, however, hazarded guesses about who the successor might be. The exception was Hindustan Standard which reported on February 28 that a proposal to appoint the Chief of Army Staff, General Kumaramangalam, on his retirement in June was "before the Union Government".
