The withdrawal of ceilings on cotton prices in September last gave the industry an excuse to demand removal of price control or at least restriction of such control to 10 to 15 per cent of the output, consisting of standard coarse cloth, for which the Indian Cotton Mills Federation thought up the catchy name of "people's cloth".
