Resolutions and Sermons Nishtar THE two-day conference at Ahmeda- bad organised by the Gujarat Federation of Cotton Associations, inaugurated by Morarji Desai and attended by nearly 1,000 delegates and observers, was more a social get-together than a platform for a really purposeful discussion of the various aspects of the cotton economy. Not that the conference missed any important aspect of cotton production; marketing; low yield; malpractices in cotton mixing, kapas collection, ginning, pressing and grading; hardships caused by sales tax and octroi; restrictions on consumption and credit control, all these were discussed at considerable length. But the conference ended by passing a number of pious resolutions without making any concrete suggestions.
