The report notes that the growth rate of total GDP for the period 1950-66 was higher in developing countries (4.7 per cent) than in industrialised countries (4.4 per cent); it is the larger population growth which reduced the per capita increase in GDP to 2.3 per cent in developing countries against 3.2 per cent in industrialised countries.
