THIS book by a former Prime Minister of Pakistan presents with competence the Muslim view of the genesis and fortunes of the movement for Pakistan. The study is admirably introduced with an account of India's struggle for freedom and unity until the Muslim League proclaimed its demand for a separate sovereign state for the Muslim nation in 1940. The account is on the whole accurate, barring one rather categorical statement which recent researches do not bear out
