For its supply erf benzene, Polychem is dependent upon the petrochemical industry; at the same time, like petrochemicals (the chairman of NOCIL has been pressing for more processing capacity for PVC), demand for polystyrene depends to some extent on growth of the plastic machine-building industry. The licensed capacity for plastic materials is about 200,000 tonnes. If it were fully utilised, the demand for plastic machinery would be much larger than the three main producers
