The wisdom of allowing the country to be photographed in detail by teams of foreign scientists is open to question. These surveys reveal not only magnetic and similar geological anomalies but yield very detailed and accurate air photographs from which it is possible to extract a great deal of strategic information. Although airborne surveys arc a specialised science, they are not entirely beyond the competence of Indian scientists.
