the choice becomes. There have been mercy pleas for some kind of corridor to Biafra to rush food to the starving people. President Johnson himself was recently moved to appeal to the parties involved in the Nigerian civil war to allow food and medicine through the fighting lines to the people who desperately need them. Beyond this it is hard for an American President to go without seeming to interfere with the internal affairs of another state. Whether the Nigerian authorities will listen to him is another matter though there have been signs that Lagos might relax its total ban on planes plying to Biafra for whatever reason.
