But the cost structure of the industry is actually such that in the majority of cases these expectations are bound to be belied. Thus rough estimates show that since the war the cost of making a major film has gone up ten times from Rs 5-6 lakhs to Rs 60-70 lakhs whereas the industry's total net annual collections have at best doubled.
