Few market men expect the crop to yield more than 61 lakh bales, while on the lower side estimates go down to 58 lakh bales. The recent wet spell in Maharashtra and Gujarat, especially the former, has attracted considerable attention. How it might affect the yield and the quality of the crop is difficult to say because it all depends on the intensity of the wet spell.
