British Press After the Times Take-Over

(From Our London Correspondent) ONE OF THE BIGGEST talking points in Britain at the moment is the state of the newspaper industry which is going through its biggest economic crisis in this century. Great newspapers like the "Times", the "Guardian" and the "Observer", which in the past have had a very great influence on governments and popular opinion throughout the world and whose views still wield considerable power, are in a very serious financial position. In fact 8 out of the top 13 papers in Fleet Street are no longer assured of their future and pundits are predicting that most of them will no longer exist in a few years' time.
