Can we protect the forest without the people of the forest?

This feature is based on the article Entrenching Brahminical Conservation  in which authors Sanjana Meshram and Aditya Rawat argue that the conception of conservation in India was inherently colonial and that the current framework is just an extension. The authors demonstrate this through a research study (conducted by both authors of this article, among others) on the WPA in MP, titled “Wildlife Policing: The Reign of Criminalisation in the Forests of MP.”
