The available evidence for Delhi Union Territory suggests that this is indeed the case, so that now the area has a doctor : population ratio which is comparable to that in many developed countries, though in India as a whole the ratio is still around 1:4,000, or about 25 per cent of the ratio in developed countries. There has also been a shift towards employment in the public sector, increasingly in large hospitals, and the proportion of doctors offering specialist services has risen considerably. }, Publisher = {Economic and Political Weekly}, Type = {Journal} }
