Disentangling the Economics of Net Neutrality

The debate around net neutrality in India has focused on safeguarding the rights and freedoms of using the internet, but little has been said about the economics of data transportation and pricing. This article argues that just like physical transportation companies charge more to carry the same weight of steel as compared to sand, internet service providers must be allowed to price discriminate as well. It also argues that apprehensions about price discrimination are essentially fears of monopolistic practices--a legitimate fear that must be addressed.
