that a diversified industrial structure is a concomitant of a high level of industrialisation of a region; and, therefore, that the objective of a diversified regional structure is primarily dependent on the rate of industrial growth. Nevertheless, the need to have a balanced regional-industrial structure may require special efforts incorporating the interregional aspects of resource allocation in industrial planning. The analysis carried out in this paper identifies the characteristics of the industrial structure of the regions and may, therefore, provide a framework in the effort to get at such a balance.
