PHILIPPE TULKENS The European Modernity completes the trilogy that J P S Uberoi began with Science and Culture (OUP 1978) and The Other Mind of Europe (OUP, 1984). It focuses (1) on the analysis of the dualist regime of the European modernity, (2) on the study of the non-dualist counter science, and (3) on the possibility of a nondualist modernity. This book intends to challenge dualism and to propose an alternative. It calls into question the modernist regime as a whole, featuring nostalgia for the inclusion of man in the theory of nature as a science, for the rediscovery of the organic properties of the universe as a whole, for a non-dualist relation between the truth and the reality as the object of science.
