Growing Industrial Crops under Contract A D Karve THE bulk of our agricultural goods is produced in a haphazard manner, which results in chaotic conditions in the market. Cotton, for instance, fetched high prices in 1966. Because of this, cotton acreage was increased significantly in the Nira Canal area in Western Maharashtra followed soon by a steep decline in prices. This year sugarcane is selling at an exorbitant price and there are indications of likely overproduction next year which would lead to a price decline.
