Since 1956 a vigorous discussion has been going on among Stalin's successors on Soviet planning techniques with a view to achieving greater economic efficiency. Apart from laying stress on greater decentralisation of planning, the discussion has centred on price reform, in the debate on which several Soviet economists have taken part.
